myCT Refrigerator Magnets

When the Pandemic of 2020 took place, I felt called to conclude my time as a digital nomad and settle down close to my family in my home state of Connecticut. While the spring months were filled with paralyzing fear, both of the global pandemic and a terrifying return to my home, I found that the trails of Connecticut were a healing respite that allowed me to turn the corner on my fears by the time summer arrived. I created this photo collection during both the spring and summer, blending the photos that represent fear with the photos which represent triumphing over that fear. For example, you may see a photo with bare trees superimposed with a photo showing the leaves which grew on the trees a month later, to somehow attempt to represent this wild time period of great growth and change. To me, these photos represent the beauty of madness… they represent both a World on fire in the depths of collective pain and tragedy, yet simultaneously represent an individual exploding with terrible joy and love. Since this photo series concludes at the end of the Summer of 2020, you’ll notice there is no explosive foliage to be seen. To be clear, this photo series represents birth and growth and life and evolution – not death – which is technically what the foliage represents. By strange coincidence, the timing of the Great War and the seasonal foliage were entangled in 2020 – starting, peaking, and subsiding in just a matter of months, none to be caught on camera. Though it was the most beautiful war I’ve never witnessed, sadly, the Great War has caused me to relocate away from Connecticut once again… but I sincerely hope to return to the place that I call home very soon.
